Muni Muni (moo-knee)

In Tagalog, “to reflect deeply upon a personal situation; to ponder.”
In Sanskrit, “a sage or ascetic.”

When considering the name of the yoga studio, it was important to me to honor my own roots while embarking on this new journey.

Meet Muni Muni’s Owner, Shelby!

She went looking for tacos & found yoga…

Shelby Loewen founded Muni Muni in 2021. She is a second-generation Filipino-American who moved to Vancouver from the East Coast. A former Marine Biologist, she discovered yoga while searching for tacos. Outside of yoga, Shelby likes to spend time at the river, go 4-wheeling in the dunes, and curl up on the couch with her corgi and husband. You may hear her yelling things like “KELLY CLARKSON CARDIO” or a motivating “Easy Cheesy”.

This studio is absolutely amazing! The instructors are incredibly gifted, inspiring, and so caring. The schedule has just the right mix of classes and instructor styles to keep me motivated. This has been the best yoga experience I have ever had! Thank you!

INTERNATIONAL YOGA RETREATS

In 2024, Muni Muni students adventured to Peru, sparking a travel need within the studio. We are now excited to offer international yoga retreats to our community. There is something so special about yoga retreats. Whether you travel alone or in a group, you’ll always end up with people who are excited to share the experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent trip to Peru with Muni Muni. It was an exceptional travel experience. Shelby’s organization and welcoming nature made the trip seamless and pleasant. The wonderful culture cultivated by Muni Muni brought together amazing people, many of whom I now consider close friends.
